How to find us

Travel to the Little Green House is possible using air, sea or road from Great Britain and the rest of Europe.

By Air - to Dublin

Hire cars are available from the airport and the journey should only take an hour and a bit but as the airport is on the opposite side of Dublin, you may have to allow considerably more time at busy periods.

If you are hiring a car, then drive to the airport exit and follow the signs to Dublin. After leaving the airport and going straight across the traffic lights at the exit, you will turn right at the next roundabout and join the M1 towards Dublin. Keep to the left and take the first exit to the M50 motorway. Stay on this motorway for 20 miles driving across the no stopping toll bridge until you see signs "N11" for Arklow and Wexford. (Toll can be paid before 8pm the following day at Cora's Minimarket 50m down the hill from our cottage.)

*Take the N11 south for about 15 miles then take the exit for Wicklow and Rathnew R763. Continue on this road , keeping left at the roundabout in Rathnew until you come into the outskirts of Wicklow Town.

**Stay on the main road through the town until you come to the square with a statue on your right. Turn right immediately behind the statue up into Kilmantin Hill, passing Wicklow Gaol (now a tourist attraction) on your left. Follow the road round to the right in front of the red brick Convent and then to the left into Convent Road. As you drive up the hill, keep right at the fork in the road with a row of cottages in the fork. The Little Green House (No 17) is the second from the top and you can park outside.

If you are not hiring a car, take the 133 Express Bus from bus stop 9 in the Atrium at the airport to Wicklow and ask to be dropped in Convent Road. Buses run at least every hour usually at 20 minutes to the hour with extra buses at busy times.

Depending in which direction the bus is travelling, you can be dropped either just above The Little Green House (no 17) on the same side if the bus is going up the hill or a little below it on the other side if travelling down the hill. If the 133 is going onto Arklow, please check before boarding where you can be dropped in Wicklow.

By ferry to Dublin.  Allow 1.0 hours but very dependent on traffic

Coming off the boat in Dublin, follow the signs to the exit and turn left as you leave the port. At the next roundabout, go straight on over the River Liffey and pass through the toll barriers  ( cost 2015: 2.90 euros). At the next roundabout turn right and then left at the traffic lights to keep the sea on your left (Sandymount Strand). Follow this road along by the sea (you can pull into several car parks to stretch your legs if you wish) until you go over a level crossing and immediately turn left (turning right takes you back into Dublin). Follow this road through Blackrock staying on the main road and follow the signs to Wicklow, until you meet a dual carriageway running across your path. Turn left onto this (N11) and follow this out until you meet the M11. Follow the M11 and then the N11 and follow the directions as from Dublin from *.

By ferry to Rosslare:  Allow 1.5 to 1.75 hours

Coming off the boat, follow the signs for Dublin and Wexford onto the N25. Approximately 12 miles from the port, the N25 to Dublin turns left at a roundabout whilst the N11 for Wicklow goes straight on. Follow the N11 for about another 53 miles until you see a yellow painted pub (The Beehive) on your right and the R751 signposted Wicklow right behind the pub. Take this road and follow it for about three miles down into the town. Turn right at the "T" junction and follow the main road through the town.

Then follow the directions above from Dublin from **.

By ferry to Larne: Allow 4.75 Hours

Leave the port following the signs for Dublin on the N8. Follow this down to the M5, and then the M1. Leave this to join the A1 to Dundalk before rejoining the M1 south. This passes the airport on its right, so pick up the turning for the M50 and follow the directions from the airport.
